The Education Television & Video Communications Trust, eTV operates as a powerful on-line teaching and learning tool that provides real-time and real-life teaching resources through recorded programmes, live streams and videos. eTV is available to all New Zealand Schools and Tertiary Establishments.
TV Recordings – Selected television programmes from more than thirty domestic and international channels are recorded, available to educational establishments. These are recorded under the terms of the NZ Copyright Act 1994 and the Screenrights Licencing scheme.
Live Streams – Live television channels and live video streams of events specifically relevant to education.
The Library – An online archive of videos available to educational members and a “cloud” video hosting solution for educational organisations’ own videos. The Library holds collections of videos produced or acquired specifically for educational use eg. digitised Archives New Zealand films.
The system is secure and addressable, allowing multi-tiered levels of access and control from the occasional student user through to institutional administration. It is designed to support a wide range of user profiles and access requirements. At the core of the eTV technology lies the e-cast Data Base and Content Management System (CMS) – a purpose-built sophisticated software programme that enables automated operation.
